PROGRAMABLE SCREW-IN STYLE Bulbs.
This new screw-style bulb technology is one of the most promising options for upcoming lighting projects in North Beach. It offers a traditional yet modern aesthetic and is extremely versatile—ideal for string lighting, signage, and marquee installations. Best of all, it’s designed for outdoor use and requires minimal maintenance. If one bulb fails, the others continue to function, and the faulty bulb can simply be unscrewed and replaced like a standard light bulb. This is the same tech used on SPECTRA at Civic Center
This tech is very unique as the bulbs simply use 2 wires, just a positive and a negative. They use a regular screw in socket medium base e27 or candelabra e14. Each bulb is programmed with a number on a small hand controller to assign them their address. The magic of this system is that unlike other addressable LEDs the wiring doesn't have to be in a linear path. You can branch off the wiring in as many directions as you want, all the branches just need to connect down to specialty power supply and they can now all receive both power and data. This means you can retrofit existing signage, marquees, and business lighting by simply running data over the original wiring. Here is a temporary demo we did at Monroe SF in North Beach swapping out thier bulbs with this new bulb tech.
When using string lights between trees the buildings the lights do not have to be in a grid. They can be arranged in any design and programmed for patterns to seamless flow across the lights.
LED NEON
Neon is one of the most Iconic sytle of lighting in North Beach. New Programable LED neon Tech can be used for new signage and artwork.
UV BLACK LIGHT
The application of Ultra-Violet (UV) is visual effect that is underutilized. Part of the reason Fluorescent and Glow-in-the-Dark is not often used in Mural and Exterior projects is due to how fast they fade from sunlight bleaching. There have been some tech breakthroughs in UV reactive paints and mix in pigments, and I have access to Amusement Park quality colors that are long term fade resistant for outdoor use. Here is a video of what large scale UV mural artists are making.
I developed these UV "cannons" that are 100w, fanless, and weather proof allowing for reliable nightly operation. With this wide areas can be lit with just a few lights meaning that there is exteemly low maintaicnce across large illumiated spaces.
There is a lot of potential in creating Murals that have hidden designs that only show up under UV.
Sidewalks can also be painted with durable paints that can be walked or driven on, along with being pressure washed. Glow in the dark elements can also be embedded directly in new pavements.
UV reactive non painted materials can also be used for scultural elements. If these elements are hung over the street it allows them to illuminate under UV light without the need to run electrical wires to them allowing for low maintainance.
RETRO-REFLECTIVE
Retro Recflective coatings reflect light that is behind the infront of the viewer. This is a cost effeive way to make objects "Light Up" without the need of any power running to the object. It uses the ambient light of the city and car light to illuminate the object. The material comes many colors and widths to create dynamic images and lettering that looks good day and night.
GOBO PROJECTORS
GOBO stands for Go-Between Projectors, where you put a colored film like stencil beween the light and lens. This allows you to projects sharp colored logos, images, and words on buildings and sidewwalks. Some models include rotating images, optical, and color effects. Unlike digital "projection mapping" that uses digital images these static analog images are cost effective and low maintainance.
