I ✈ OAK

I ✈ OAK is a Neon sculpture for the Port of Oakland, Sponsors of the 2022 Autumn Lights Festival at the Gardens of Lake Merritt, and permanently installed at Terminal 2 in 2025. Each hand made Neon piece is framed in the window of the recycled fuselage of an original American Airlines N693AA Boeing 757 aircraft. The illuminated glass tubes use traditional non-phosphor coated glass, with the blue illumination of the letters created with Mercury Vapor gas, and the plane created using Neon gas, matching the retro style of this 1993 aircraft.
